Oslo, the Norwegian capital since 1814, the year of the national constitution, is the seat of the Government and Parliament, as well as the place where the king resides. The city is located in the inner part of the Oslofjorden, a hundred-kilometer fjord, where there are forty islands, easily accessible by scheduled ferries. The center has modern buildings, where the economic life of the country takes place and more than half of the municipality is covered by parks, woods, green areas and 343 lakes. In half an hour by car you are already immersed in dense forests, where you can pick berries and mushrooms. Its winter feature, for enthusiasts, is that of being able to go skiing by taking public transportation or the subway directly, and this is the city where skiing has always fascinated everyone. In the summer, there is no shortage of the beaches of the many islands, which welcome bathers and sportsmen. Oslo is the oldest of the Nordic capitals and with only six hundred thousand inhabitants, is able to combine the effervescent urban life with a high quality of life in close contact with nature, even if the price to pay is to be classified among the cities most expensive in the world.
It is a small tourist town belonging to the municipality of Stranda in the Sunnmøre region of Norway. It is located in an inlet of the Geirangerfjord, which in turn belongs to the larger Storfjorden. Geiranger is also the third most frequented port in Norway, due to the approximately 160 tourist ships that visit the town every day during the four summer months. Some hundreds of thousands of people visit this small corner of the world every year, this obviously led the approximately 250 inhabitants of the small village to specialize in tourism.
In the inner part of the Aurlandsfjord, surrounded by steep mountains, impetuous waterfalls and narrow valleys, lies the small village of Flåm. The most popular attractions in Flåm are fishing in the Flåmselvi river and the Rallarvegen, one of Norway's most spectacular cycling routes. From Flåm you can set off on various hikes in the nearby mountains, or explore the Aurlandsfjord and the Nærøyfjord. The Nærøyfjord is included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and is the narrowest fjord in the world, with a minimum width of only 250 meters at one point, surrounded by towering mountains on each side.
The Hardangerfjord flows from the Atlantic to the Hardangervidda plateau, is the second longest fjord in Norway and the fourth longest in the world. Although the landscape may at first appear harsh and wild, the area offers excellent infrastructure with well-marked trails and overnight accommodations.
